Alex H. Breckenridge
Attorney at Law | Civil Litigation, Probate and Guardianship, Landlord-Tenant Matters, and Criminal Defense
Originally from Federal Heights, Colorado, Alex Breckenridge is a passionate attorney with a diverse practice that includes civil litigation, probate and guardianship, landlord-tenant matters, and criminal defense. Known for her attention to detail, friendly attitude and clear communication, Alex approaches each case with a focus on practical solutions and strong client advocacy.
Alex earned her J.D. from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law in 2017 after completing dual B.A. degrees in English Literature and Political Science at the University of Colorado. Her early career included legal and nonprofit roles centered on policy, education, and community access—experience that continues to inform her client-centered approach to legal practice today.
In 2018, Alex moved from Colorado to Michigan and stepped back from law to focus on family. She and her wife, Jess, welcomed their son, Kerrigan, the following year. As Kerrigan grew older, Alex returned to legal practice and was admitted to the Michigan Bar in 2022.
She joined Harris Law in 2025, where she represents clients across northern Michigan in a range of matters—from quiet title actions and guardianship proceedings to misdemeanor defense and eviction litigation. Alex is especially valued for her ability to simplify complex legal issues, listen closely to her clients’ needs, and provide steady guidance during times of uncertainty.
In addition to her legal work, Alex is active in the Alpena community. She serves on the City of Alpena Planning Commission and holds a board position with Habitat for Humanity of Northeast Michigan, supporting efforts to expand safe and affordable housing throughout the region.
When she’s not practicing law, Alex enjoys the slower pace of life on Lake Huron with her family and their three cats—Lennox, Cinder, and Ash. In her free time, you’ll often find her reading, crafting, sipping a glass of wine, or hunting for vintage treasures at a local thrift shop. Though a proud Michigander, Alex is a lifelong Denver Broncos fan and still cheers them on every Sunday throughout the fall.
